[[http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ SETI@Home]] is a distributed computing project similar to the encryption cracking efforts run by distributed.net. The SETI@Home concept is to distribute radio telescope data gathered by the SETI project (SETI = Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) to thousands of computers over the Internet so that the data can be analyzed for signals that might be of intelligent origin.
